Antara L Imaji Lasahido, Jakarta – After taking office in mid-October 2022, Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono stated that the Capital Provincial Government had planted 2,700 trees in various locations.

The thousands of trees have rejuvenated areas around the province's Land Assets and public open spaces in Jakarta.

"The Jakarta regional government has planted 2,700 trees in various locations with a variety of types of plants," said Heru in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta on Friday, January 27, 2023.

Heru explained that the greening was not only implemented on land or buildings owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov), but also around the subdistrict. For example in Child-Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRA) and newly developed parks as a result of regional planning.

"Yesterday there were 256 locations, plus the RPTRA that we continued to maintain along with the other parks. There are about 104 parks in Central Jakarta, plus one today, so now it's 105 parks," he said as quoted by Antara.

Heru said that in one month in one location of one sub-district, there will be 256 parks planted with trees. One government-owned building being implemented with greening is the Jakarta Textile Center Laboratory in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

In the green open area of 761 square meters (m2), 525 trees were planted that consisted of 500 bird's eye chillies, 15 Cempaka Putih trees and 10 Ketapang Kencana trees.

Meanwhile, thousands of trees planted in government-owned assets and open spaces include mango, starfruit, Watery rose apple, Malay apple, Bignay, Velvet apple and oranges. Shade tree that is being planted includes Trumpet trees and Monkeypod trees.

Previously, Heru Budi also distributed around 10,000 food plants which were spread across the five administrative areas of Jakarta.

Reforestation was also carried out along the Kalimalang River under the Bekasi Toll Road, Cawang Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) to maintain the quality of Jakarta's raw water.
