Antara, Cikarang – The Bekasi Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) sent assistance to victims of the tidal flood in Muaragembong District on Sunday, November 27, 2022. The regional agency head Muchlis explained that the aid includes 20 boxes of basic necessities, 15 boxes of mineral water, and 4,000 masks.
"We immediately visit the disaster site after receiving reports of tidal flooding due to rising sea levels," said Muchlis in Bekasi on Sunday as quoted by Antara.
The BPBD Bekasi also prepared additional assistance, instant noodles, and mineral water as well as 500 bamboo sticks and gabions for five affected villages, namely Pantai Mekar, Pantai Bahagia, Pantai Bakti, Pantai Sederhana, and Pantai Harapan Jaya Village.
"The five villages are still inundated with floodwater as high as 20 to 50 centimeters," he added.
The agency also coordinated with the local disaster response village team (Destana) and the local disaster risk management forum (FPRB) to mitigate the disaster's impact. "We are collecting data on the affected areas and families," said Muchlis.
People of Muaragembong living in disaster-prone areas are advised to raise their vigilance and take an active role in preventing and overcoming natural disasters.
