Antara, Jakarta – Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria asked the public to report cases of sexual harassment occurring in public services, including in public transport minivans or angkot, via the city's hotline 112.

"We'd like to encourage all Jakartans to be more careful and bold to make a report if sexual harassment occurs," said Riza while inspecting public transportation services in Tebet, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 13, 2022, as quoted from Antara.

According to him, the provincial government is set to place the 112 hotline sticker in public transportation fleets, stations, and bus stops.

People could also report such cases through the Jakarta Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A) on phone number 081317617622.

"I want to make sure that Jakartans don't have to be afraid to take public transportation, including angkot," Riza underlined.

The city administration also provided education and training about the prevention of sexual abuse to mass transport drivers including angkot drivers in the Jak Lingko integration. "We also want to make sure that this issue is not taken lightly, but must be dealt with together," he added.

Other than the 112 hotline sticker, the Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo explained that his side installed CCTV or surveillance cameras at many stations, bus stops, terminals, and public transportation fleets to detect and minimize the potential for sexual harassment and other crimes.
