Dicky Kurniawan, Jakarta – Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the Indonesian government planned to require electric cars as vehicles for government officials, the Military (TNI), and the Police (Polri). This is aimed at expediting electrification in the country.

"The government will soon prepare a presidential instruction to accelerate the use of electric cars within the government, including the TNI and Polri. In the government environment, it will be mandatory to use electric cars," said Moeldoko after the press conference of Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2022 in Jakarta, Monday, July 11, 2022.

According to Moeldoko, who is also the chairman of the Indonesian electric vehicle industry association (Periklindo), the electric cars that will be used will not be fixed on one model. In the early stages, the government will rent electric cars to be operated as official vehicles.

"But if domestic production is strong, we can use it. We will implement it gradually," he said.
