Jakarta – The United Indonesia Coalition, which is made up of the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP) claims that it will continue the development of the President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo era in the next period.

Golkar General Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto said that the three political parties have experience in this because currently they are part of the coalition of political parties supporting the government.

"Of course these three parties have experience in development, and of course this is in line with what the Pak [Mr] President is hoping for", said Hartarto at the Golkar Central Leadership Board office in Jakarta on Wednesday May 18.

"We will oversea development in 2024, and of course continue all the things which have been done well in the previous period", he added.

Hartarto said that Golkar, PPP and PAN have the same goals, namely developing Indonesia to be affluent, rich and prosperous. He is convinced that the coalition can realise this.

"And of course this can only be pushed through by experts and experienced parties", he said.

In addition to this, Hartarto also said that the coalition is still open to other political parties which want to join. Although between them, Golkar, the PPP and PAN are able to nominate a presidential and vice presidential ticket in the 2024 elections, Hartarto claimed that they are still open to other parties.

"Communication with all of the political parties is fluid. So cooperation with other political parties is inclusive. [We're] open to everyone", said Hartarto.

The requirements to nominate a presidential and vice presidential ticket in the elections based on Law Number 7/2017 on the Elections is that a party or coalition of parties must have 20 percent of seats in the House of Representatives (DPR). Golkar, the PPP and PAN have already fulfilled this.

Jointly, they have 23.67 percent of seats in the DPR. If calculated in terms of the number of seats, the three parties control 148 DPR members. This already exceeds the requirement of 115 seats in the DPR. (bmw)
