Lani Diana Wijaya, Jakarta – Jakarta Legal Bureau Head Yayan Yuhanah said the city administration has not yet decided to challenge the decree of the State Administrative Court (PTUN) regarding flooding. According to him, the local government is still waiting for an official copy of the court's decision.

"We'll review the assembly's considerations and what we have done," said Yayan at the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Building, Central Jakarta, Monday, Feb. 21.

Yayan said the Legal Bureau is coordinating with the Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA) while awaiting the official copy of the court's ruling. "Let's just wait until the submission time for an appeal is up, while first coordinating with SDA and others," he explained.

Previously, the panel of judges of the Jakarta Administrative Court sentenced Governor Anies Baswedan to completing the dredging of the Mampang River until Pondok Jaya areas and building a retaining wall in Pela Mampang Sub-district.

The decision was declared on February 15, 2022, after seven residents sued Anies for the flooding in the capital that occurred on February 19-21 2021. They filed a lawsuit on August 24, 2021, with case number 205/G/TF/2021/PTUN.JKT.

Jakarta Water Resources Agency Secretary Dudi Gardesi clarified that the dredging of the Mampang River, South Jakarta, has been carried out regularly every year. The activity using heavy equipment commenced in late 2021 and continued in early 2022.

"So, in fact, whether there is a lawsuit or not, Jakarta Provincial Government has worked on all points demanded by the plaintiff," said Dudi in a written statement, Friday, Feb. 18.
