Arrijal Rachman, Jakarta – The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said he would optimize the performance of former employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) employed in the institution to improve the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).

He said former KPK employees, including Novel Baswedan, had been assigned positions in the task force responsible for preventing corruption.

"We will use the abilities of our colleagues to improve the CPI because the CPI is an international standard," said Sigit when met at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, January 24, 2022.

Sigit said they were also prepared to fill the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas), a special unit under the control of the National Police Chief.

"We are still finalizing Kortas. We will soon send a letter to the PAN-RB Minister," he added.

Sigit explained the existence of Novel Baswedan and others was necessary as the Corruption Perceptions Index is a strong concern of the international community. Besides, a one-point improvement in the index would be able to improve Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP).

"That is equal to Rp273 trillion and we actually hope that this will be part of what they can do to improve the corruption perceptions index in our country," said the National Police Chief.
