Jokowi inaugurates rp518 billion Tebelian Airport in West Kalimantan

Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, on Wednesday officially inaugurated the Tebelian Airport located at the Sintang Regency in West Kalimantan, which cost Rp518 billion to build and is designed to serve 75,000 travelers annually.

He made it clear that smooth connectivity is key amidst a competitive nature between countries in the world.

"This airport is very important to serve the increasing need for air transportation in the community and to serve the increasingly crowded flow of people," said the President as aired in the Presidential Secretariat youtube channel on December 8.

Tebelian Airport was built in 2011 on an area of approximately 153.6 hectares which was granted by the Sintang Regency Government to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation.

It currently is equipped with a passenger terminal covering an area of 2,000 square meters capable of serving 75 thousand passengers per year.

The airport runway is 1,820 meters long and 30 meters wide and able to accommodate ATR-72/600 type aircraft, 160 meters x 18 meters taxiway and 220 meters x 60 meters apron which can accommodate 4 ATR-72 aircraft.
