Antara, Jakarta – Papua Police Chief gen. Marthinus D. Fakhiri on Monday said the clash between members of the police institution and Armed Forces (TNI) in Tembagapura, Timika, which circulated in a viral social media video was an isolated incident and was not a riot between the two institutions.

Tempo tracked down one that was uploaded by an Instagram account @infokomando.official on Sunday, Nov 28, which allegedly shows a heated exchange between members of the two institutions.

"There was no riot as it was just a case of misunderstanding. It's been solved and [both parties] have made peace," said Marthinus on Monday, November 29, Antaranews reported.

He explains that the two task forces involved in the incident, Task Force Nanggala and Amole, are overseen by the Nemangkawi Operation in Papua, which reports back to the Papua Police Chief.

Citing the press release of the Papua Police, the incident happened on Saturday, Nov 27, at the Ridge Camp Post RCTU Mile 72, when six Amole personnels were selling cigarettes. Not long, 20 people from the Nanggala task force purchased the cigarettes and sparked a brawl.
