A woman in Parigi Moutong regency, Central Sulawesi claims she was lured into having sex with the region's police chief under a false promise that he would free her jailed father.
The woman, who has been identified as 20-year-old S, told reporters today that a precinct chief, a police inspector 1st class who goes by the initials IDGN, abused his authority to have sex with her. The woman's father has been detained at the precinct over an undisclosed offense.
"[IDGN] promised to free father. He kept on seducing me for two or three weeks," S said.
S said she eventually agreed to have sex with him at a hotel, hoping that her father would get out of jail if she did. Instead, he just gave her some money for her and her mother.
"And then he asked me [to sleep with him] for a second time. I have our chat log. I hoped that he would actually be able to release my father," she said.
It was at this point that S filed a complaint against IDGN last week, with their chat log containing his inappropriate messages to her used as evidence. The case has attracted nationwide attention over the past few days, at a time when the integrity of the Indonesian police has come under increasing scrutiny.
The Central Sulawesi Provincial Police's internal affairs division has launched a query into the case, while IDGN has been suspended from his post at the precinct and demoted to a desk job at the provincial police HQ.
The provincial police has yet to confirm whether or not IDGN extorted S for sex.
