Lani Diana Wijaya, Jakarta – A number of people stage a protest before the Jakarta City Hall and the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) building to reject the city government's plan to host Formula E in 2022.

Tempo observed that they raised red flags reading East Jakarta BMI, which stands for Banteng Muda Indonesia, one of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP)'s wing organizations.

The participants staged the protest by shouting yells before the City Hall. The police, however, dispersed them given the city was still under level three of the public mobility restriction or PPKM Level 3.

Riding pickup vehicles and motorbikes, they then moved towards the Jakarta DPRD building, which is located right behind the City Hall. The protesters just passed the council office while shouting their rejection against the city government's plan to host the international car racing event.

They also hoisted posters bearing various words, such as "Tolak dan batalkan Formula E Jakarta" (Reject and Cancel Formula E Jakarta) and "Rakyat butuh sarapan, bukan balapan" (People need breakfast, not racing).

One of the posters also showed a photo of the back of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, reading that the latter was a fraudster. Another photo displayed the meeting of Anies with seven DPRD faction members at the governor's official residence who objected to the interpellation rights related to the Formula E implementation.
