Jakarta – The Justice and Human Rights Ministry is donating 46,614 food packages for pandemic-affected communities across the archipelago.

The food packages will make their way to 43,558 family heads who are directly impacted by the pandemic, as well as 3,056 Covid-infected civil servants at the ministry. Each food package includes rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, sardines, and milk.

The Justice Ministry is also providing a social aid of Rp 700 million (around $48,516) for its regional offices in areas that are currently under the so-called level four strict social restrictions – namely Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, and Bali.

"I hope this will help lighten the burden of those who are directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly said, as quoted from his statement on Thursday.

According to Yasonna, the donation is in line with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's instruction to spare no efforts in helping the people and micro-scale businesses.

"[We are] providing this assistance not only to the communities in the urban areas, but also those who are in the border areas," Yasonna said.

Justice and Human Rights Ministry secretary-general Andap Budhi Revianto said collaboration is crucial in combating the pandemic.

"We advise the public to stay alert, remain calm, think positively and optimistically while also observing the health protocols at all times, and get vaccinated," Adhap said.
