Joniansyah Hardjono, Jakarta – State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II on Tuesday recorded significant decline in numbers of airline passenger after the enforcement of the 'emergency PPKM' to 70 percent.

"The air passenger traffic across Angkasa Pura II airports dropped by 70 percent compared to the traffic prior to the emergency PPKM," said AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin on July 6.

The enforcement of the Covid-19 restriction under the government's circular No. 45/2021 on July 5 has effectively reduced public mobility across airports in Java and Bali regions.

One of the most significant drops happened at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which recorded 16,000-20,000 passengers during the PPKM enforcement. It was a drastic drop compared to the period before the Covid curb at more than 60,000 passengers.

Meanwhile, international flights recorded 1,900 passengers during the emergenecy PPKM from previously 3,000 passengers before the emergency Covid restrictions.
