Lani Diana Wijaya, Jakarta – Head of Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Hari Nugroho said nearly 6,900 roads in five Jakarta areas were damaged due to heavy rainfall leading to floods. However, he said the number was less than last year's.

"The number drops compared to that of in 2020. Last year, there were almost 9,000 roads damaged," said Hari to Tempo on Thursday, February 25.

He explained that the damage varied from mild, moderate, to severe. The agency officers would use a cold asphalt patch method to repair those in minor damage.

For severely damaged roads, the officers would use concrete. "Such as the roads in North Jakarta, we need to use concrete," Hari added.

As widely reported, heavy rains flushed Jakarta since Saturday, February 20. The continuous high-intensity rainfall was claimed to be attributable to flooding in the capital city. The previous massive floods in the city occurred in early 2020.
