Mahfuzulloh Al Murtadho, Jakarta – High-intensity rainfall showering Bogor since 15:30 local time on Monday, Jan. 25 caused the Cisadane River to overflow which led to landslides in plantations and fields belonging to residents of Ciadeg Village, Cigombong.
The Ciadeg Village Head Wahyu Rahayu said landslides on the banks of Cisadane occurred at 16:20 local time. "There was heavy rainfall at that time followed by landslides. The rain was still raining," Wahyu told Tempo on Monday evening.
Wahyu explained there were no casualties. However, some plantations and rice fields belonging to residents were eroded and washed away by the overflowing river currents.
The lands affected by the river overflow were long as they were located right in the river banks that tend to bend. "The impact is long. Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), there were no victims," he added.
To anticipate longer and wider lands affected by the erosion, Wahyu said he was immediately coordinating with the Bogor Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) and Neighboring Units (RT) and Community Units (RW) near the banks of the Cisadane River, given that the landslide occurred only about 10 meters away from residential areas.
"I have asked RT and RW to evacuate residents who are living near the river banks to a safer location," said Wahyu.
