Eid Al-Adha, long-range train passengers doubled

Francisca Christy Rosana, Jakarta – State-owned train operator company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) recorded that the number of long-distance trip passengers departing from Gambir station and Pasar Senen station during the Eid Al-Adha period on Thursday, July 30, 2020 reached 3,958 people. The number doubled from the number recorded last week during the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) transition period.

"The number fill out aroud 90 percent of the seat availability of 4,385 on Thursday, July 30, 2020. The number of available seats was a predetermined 70 percent limit of the normal capacity," said Public Relation Head of Operation Region I of PT KAI Eva Chairunisa on Friday, July 31, 2020.

On Thursday, 30 July 2020, or just one day before Eid Al-Adha, PT KAI operates 11 train sets. Meanwhile on Friday, July 31 2020, the Operational Region I of PT KAI recorded seven train sets ready to operate.

Around 2,600 passengers have reserved tickets for 31 July, 2020, departure through online platforms. The number of seats provided by PT KAI are 3,155 seats.

All officers in the stations and on the train, according to Eva, have ensured that Covid-19 protocols has been implemented. For example, practicing physical distancing.

Furthermore, PT KAI has distributed face shield to all passengers. The passengers are obliged to equip the face shield during the trip. Officers will also conduct periodic check of body temperature during the trip.

In providing long-range trips, passengers must have a normal body temperature and disclose a rapid test or PCR test result as the mandatory requirements.

Failure to fulfill the requirements will prevent the passenger from traveling and the ticket will be refunded by 100 percent.

"PT KAI Operational Region I Jakarta urged all passengers to keep taking efforts to prevent Covid-19 infection by using long sleeve attires, maintain physical distancing, and utilize hand sanitizing facilities provided in the station and on the train," Eva said.
