One of Indonesia's largest sushi restaurant chains in West Jakarta has been fined for failing to observe new dine-in protocols amid the pandemic.
The West Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) on Sunday inspected a Sushi Tei restaurant in Puri Indah Mall and found that it did not observe the capital's cap on the number of dine-in visitors allowed in a restaurant.
"[The restaurant] did not limit the number of diners to 50 percent of its capacity," West Jakarta Satpol PP Chief Tamo Sijabat said yesterday.
The restaurant was fined IDR10 million (US$687) in accordance with regulations outlined in Jakarta's Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB Transisi). The regulations relax previous partial lockdown measures, among them allowing restaurants to reopen for dining in but with a limited number of customers.
Sushi Tei began reopening its restaurants in the Greater Jakarta Area for dine-in in June.
Another high profile restaurant chain to be fined for violating health protocols amid the pandemic was McDonald's, when it attracted and served a huge farewell crowd on the last day before its historic outlet in Sarinah, Central Jakarta closed for good.
