Indonesia's COVID-19 Task Force today announced their findings on the country's caseload by cities and regencies – the first of such ranking – with Central Jakarta topping the unenvied list.
Dr. Dewi Nur Aisyah, an epidemiologist and a member of the task force, said that the ranking was averaged based on the regions' population ratio.
"[...] We had to consider the population number as part of our calculation to see the rate of transmission within the community," Dewi said in a press conference broadcasted on Youtube today.
Central Jakarta tops the list with the highest ratio of 149.2 cases per 100,000 people, followed by the Papuan capital of Jayapura at 108 cases per 100,000 people. The East Java capital of Surabaya was placed third with 107.6 cases per 100,000 people.
The top 10 cities and regencies with the highest number of COVID-19 cases on average are as follows:

Surabaya is the city with the highest death ratio, with 9.8 deaths per 100,000 people, followed by Banjarmasin (9.4) and Manado (8.02).
On the other end of the scale, Tegal and Blora regencies in Central Java and Lebak regency in Banten are among the regions with the lowest number of COVID-19 cases nationwide.
As of June 24, Indonesia has recorded 49,009 COVID-19 cases nationwide, including 19,658 recoveries and 2,573 deaths.
