Jakarta home to Rp20 billion worth of luxury cars' unpaid taxes

M Rosseno Aji, Jakarta – Jakarta's Tax and Levy Agency (BPRD) in conjunction with the Metro Jaya Police commenced an operation to collect tax arrears owed by luxury car owners on Tuesday, December 3, which was done door-to-door.

The team collected the tax in South Jakarta from an owner of a collection of luxury cars, "In total, there were five vehicles with taxes yet to be paid," said Metro Jaya Police's Khairil Anwar in a written statement.

A total of Rp350 million in tax arrears were collected from the owner's Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Ferrari 458, a Land Rover SUV, Toyota Vellfire, and a Jaguar 25 XT. According to Khairil, the owner was not at home when the team arrived.

Metro Jaya Police revealed that there are 1,513 vehicles classified as luxury units that are all in the Jakarta area. Out of that number, Khairil said nearly 500 of the cars have unpaid taxes projected to be in the area of RP20 billion.
