Jakarta (Antara) – Expert on political affairs Pangi Syarwi Chaniago said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's lack of immediacy to introduce the government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) in the case of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arose several questions.

"Who is he afraid of, political elites or the people? Issuing a Perppu is the most efficient and effective shortcut," said Pangi in Jakarta on Monday, October 7th.

The Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting said that Jokowi should not think about the rumor that recently spread regarding impeachment aimed at him since he argues impeaching a president is not an easy task.

Pangi suspects that the impeachment rumor was initially made public to give pressure to President Jokowi as he is still weighing-in the advantages and disadvantages of issuing a Perppu.

He asked Jokowi to remain calm as many members of society are pushing for President Jokowi to introduce a regulation in lieu of law that would annul the new controversial corruption eradication commission law (KPK Law).
