Marvela, Jakarta – Over a thousand cars categorized as luxury cars in the Jakarta area are reportedly in tax arrears amounting to Rp2.4 trillion.
The head of the city's Regional Tax and Retribution Agency (BPRD), Faisal Syafruddin, sayid these vehicles were those sold at prices of over Rp1 billion and comprised vehicles hailing from premium brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Roll Royce, which had annual taxes of over hundreds of millions of rupiah.
"The vehicles' population is quite plentiful, too. If I'm not mistaken it is in the thousands that we will pursue with taxes worth over Rp1 billion such as Rolls Royce vehicles," said Faisal.
According to him, the regional tax retribution agency would team up with the Jakarta Police's traffic director as law enforcers in dealing with this case.
This action is relative to the region's Tax Relief Policy Program that takes effect from September 16-December 30.
The BPRD will also work together with a number of related associations to call on these premium luxury car owners to pay their taxes. Faisal also hinted at the possibility of the agency going door-to-door to the luxury car owners.
