Ahmad Faiz Ibnu Sani, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he will have a talk with Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan regarding the city's handling of the constant air quality degradation. The president also asked for Jakarta's old public transportations to be replaced with electric-powered vehicles.
"[The changes] should have been commenced already, we must act swiftly, at least the public transportations such as the [old] busses. I will have a say with the governor," said the president today at the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia MRT station.
Jokowi also urged the Jakarta administration to continue urging its citizens to actively use public transports.
Moreover, Jokowi said that the presidential decree on electric vehicles must be ratified soon, but could only be done once it arrives on his table.
"I will certainly sign it once it arrives on my desk," said the former governor of Jakarta. Jokowi implied that developments on electric vehicles (EV) will immediately kick-off as he signs the decree.
