Andi Adam Faturahman, Jakarta – Demands are mounting for the immediate formation of an Independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) in the attempted premeditated murder case of human rights activist Andrie Yunus, nearly a month after he was attacked with acid.

A civil society coalition representative, Hema, said the attack was not only directed at Andrie as an individual, but also at the broader movement of young people advocating for democracy and human rights in Indonesia. She said indications suggest the assault was not spontaneous, but organised.

She stressed that Andrie has the right to justice and full disclosure of the case, particularly in identifying the intellectual actors behind the attack, which caused severe burn injuries.

"We urge the government to promptly establish a TGPF in this case," Hema said during a 30-day commemoration of the case on Sunday (April 12, 2026).

Meanwhile, the Lokataru Foundation has launched a petition on Change.org calling on President Prabowo Subianto's administration to form a TGPF. The petition highlights the need to uncover all parties involved, including alleged masterminds behind the attack.

As of Monday (April 13, 2026) at 09:40 WIB, the petition had gathered 3,039 signatures. It also calls for the case to be tried in civilian courts rather than military tribunals.

Last week, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the government would first coordinate internally before responding to calls for the establishment of an independent fact-finding team.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has also proposed involving legal professionals as ad hoc judges in the proceedings, as part of efforts to strengthen the justice process.

Andrie Yunus was attacked with a corrosive substance on March 12 while walking along Salemba I – Talang Street in Central Jakarta. Medical reports show he suffered burns covering more than 20 percent of his body.

Last week, the Indonesian Military Police (Puspom TNI) handed over case files and evidence to the Military Prosecutor's Office 07-II Jakarta. If declared complete, the case will proceed to trial at the Military Court 08-II Jakarta.

Puspom TNI said four suspects have been identified in the attack: NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, all members of the air and naval forces. NDP holds the rank of captain, while SL, BHW, and ES are first lieutenant and sergeant, respectively.
