Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reveals that he receives routine intelligence reports about observers who dislike his administration, claiming they are funded by anti-government entities.
Prabowo says he's been receiving such reports daily since he assumed office. "Now that I'm the president, I receive daily intel reports," he says while attending a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, March 13, 2026.
"So I know who their financial backers are," he says, referring to dissenting voices against his government.
Prabowo says he's trying to exhaust persuasive means to address what he claims are the observers' financial backers. "But there will come a time to crack down on this behavior," he pledges.
The president says he's currently trying to convince the public through evidence-based approaches.
Prabowo claims to be puzzled by observers who constantly denigrate the government. "I believe these people are seeking to instill fear in society, which I don't understand, since we are under one nation," he remarks
Prabowo likens Indonesia to a large vessel, where everybody on board will be affected if it tilts. Thus, he says, all parties must unite and cooperate to save the ship, especially since the elections are over.
President Prabowo repeatedly accused his critics of making financial gains by commenting on his government. For instance, on January 12, 2026, Prabowo mentioned that there are a handful of people who often mock him and spread negative views about his government. He suspects that these individuals are paid by foreign powers.
Prabowo expressed this during the inauguration of 166 public schools in the city of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province. He initially expressed his gratitude that Indonesia is in a good condition. However, according to Prabowo, the world is currently in turmoil and full of uncertainty.
He believed that Indonesia have immense natural resources, but they have been mismanaged for decades. For Prabowo, it is not easy to rectify this.
eans, they can spread cynicism, pessimism, and most likely they are paid by foreign powers, that's my belief, my conviction," said Prabowo, as broadcast live via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, on Monday, January 12, 2026.
