Ervana Trikarinaputri, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto warned his aides against providing him with what he called "bogus reports," while attending the first anniversary of the sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia.
Prabowo mandated that all of the data provided to him correspond with the actual situation on the ground. "Don't play around with me, giving me bogus reports, misleading reports, deceitful reports. I'm giving you a stern warning," said Prabowo at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The head of state conveyed his warning as he talked about Danantara's performance over the past year. The data he received showed that Danantara had increased its return on assets (RoA) by 300 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year.
Prabowo said he's hoping the data was not manipulated, warning his staff against falsifying reports just to please him. "I received a report; hopefully this report is correct," said Prabowo.
If the report is accurate, he said, then this achievement would serve as evidence of the primary rationale behind the establishment of Danantara. Prabowo said the agency bears heavy responsibility to manage all of Indonesia's wealth.
For him, Danantara, as the main controller and manager of state-owned assets, is good for the nation. "It's not possible to have good management without being under one control, in one hand," he said.
President Prabowo officially launched Danantara Indonesia on Monday, February 24, 2025. Danantara is an independent institution under the President's office with a mandate to manage and optimize government investments as well as State-Owned Enterprises' (BUMN) assets.
