Antara, Jakarta – Hundreds of people crowded the residence of the Iranian Ambassador in Jakarta on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to hold mass prayers as a form of solidarity against the aggression of the United States and Israel that killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Not far from the entrance, several people – mostly dressed in black and holding roses as a sign of mourning – took turns taking photos with a picture of Ali Khamenei on display.
On the other hand, there were people busy writing condolences while signing a petition as a form of solidarity and support for peace and international law enforcement.
At around 3:15 p.m. Jakarta time, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi, who recalled Ali Khamenei's role and reiterated that Iran strongly condemns the attacks by the United States and Israel that have killed people and hundreds of children in Iran.
The mourners then recited Surah Yasin and made joint prayers, concluding with the recitation of Quran verses.
Some people were weeping during the joint prayers, signaling their deep sorrow and sympathy for the Iranian supreme leader's struggle against the Zionist regime of Israel, according to Antara.
Previously, on February 28, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks on a number of targets in Iran, including in Tehran, with reports of damage and civilian casualties. Iranian state television confirmed that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack.
Iran then launched waves of retaliatory missile attacks on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Gulf region. The escalation in the region occurred amid nuclear talks in Geneva between the US and Iran, mediated by Oman.
