Celvin Moniaga Sipahutar, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto met with several of Indonesia's wealthiest business leaders on Tuesday evening, urging them to prioritize investments that generate large-scale employment and deliver tangible benefits to the national economy.
The closed-door meeting was held at the president's private residence in Bogor and brought together prominent conglomerate figures, including Prajogo Pangestu of Barito Pacific Group, Anthony Salim of Salim Group, Franky Widjaja of Sinar Mas Group, Boy Thohir of Adaro Energy, and Sugianto Kusuma of Agung Sedayu Group.
"Industrial development must directly benefit the people, create jobs, and strengthen national self-reliance," Prabowo said in a statement posted on the president's official Instagram account.
According to reports, the meeting ran from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. local time and was described as warm, constructive, and marked by a strong spirit of gotong royong, or mutual cooperation.
During the discussion, Prabowo also gathered input from the business leaders on economic challenges and opportunities, while stressing the importance of close collaboration between the government and the private sector under the banner of "Indonesia Incorporated" to enhance national competitiveness and accelerate development.
The executives expressed their collective commitment to support the administration's policy direction, including efforts to reduce poverty, improve children's nutrition and education, and promote industrial development aligned with national interests.
The Presidential Office said the meeting was held at the request of the business leaders, who represent key sectors including property, energy, food, infrastructure, plantations, and mining, and sought a direct dialogue with the head of state.
