Statistics Indonesia: Unemployment drops to 7.35 million by November 2025

M. Faiz Zaki, Jakarta – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) noted that the number of unemployed individuals reached 7.35 million in November 2025. Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasari stated that this figure decreased from 7.46 million in August 2025.

"It decreased by 0.109 million compared to August 2025," she said in a press conference on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Unemployment data throughout last year appeared to be fluctuating. At the beginning of the year in February 2025, the number of unemployed individuals was recorded at 7.28 million. BPS released data for February, August, and November.

BPS recorded the working-age population (those over 15 years old) at 218.85 million in November 2025. "This number increased by 0.681 million compared to August 2025," Amalia explained.

In November 2025, the labor force amounted to 155.27 million, up from 154 million in August. The employed numbered 147.91 million in November, an increase from 146.54 million in August. Meanwhile, the non-labor force totaled 63.58 million, a decrease from 64.17 million in August.

According to BPS data, the number of full-time workers increased by 1.850 million to 100.497 million in November 2025. Part-time workers amounted to 35.858 million, a decrease of 0.438 million. Additionally, those categorized as partially unemployed numbered 11.558 million, a decrease of 0.042 million.

Amalia stated that the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for males reached 84.83 percent in November 2025, while the LFPR for females was 56.91 percent.

"Both male and female LFPR experienced an increase in November compared to August 2025," she said.

The three fields that absorbed the most labor were agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 27.99 percent. This was followed by wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles at 18.67 percent, and the manufacturing industry at 13.86 percent.
