Antara, Jakarta – The spokesperson of Indonesia's Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, Troy Pantouw, has assured that the fire incident at the Construction Worker Residential (HPK) Satu Tower 14 IKN in the Bumi Harapan Village, Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, did not disrupt the construction project of the future Indonesian capital.res
"All IKN development activities continue as normal," said Troy, who also serves as the Special Staff to the Head of IKN Authority, in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Friday, October 3, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
He stated that the incident of the HPK Satu Tower 14 IKN fire had been handled well. The affected residents have been temporarily relocated to two other residential locations within the HPK area, namely Tower 02 (Bengkirai) in Site 1B and Tower 06 (Flamboyan) in Site 1C.
A total of 608 workers affected by the fire are from several contractors involved in the Project Operation Cooperation for the Construction of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Vertical Residential, namely PT PP, PT Brantas Abipraya, and PT Nindya Karya. "OIKN and the building management are still documenting the estimate of material damages," he said.
All 14 rooms on floors 3 and 4 of Tower 14 sustained significant damage due to the fire. Damage was found on the ceilings, walls, and room furnishings, and the surrounding area of the affected rooms also suffered damage due to heat and firefighting water.
Troy revealed that the cause of the fire is still awaiting official forensic examination results from the police. Police lines have been installed at the crime scene to support the investigation.
The Identification Unit of the North Penajam Paser Police Resort and the East Kalimantan Regional Police are working at the crime scene and its surroundings. Based on preliminary investigation results, said Troy, the fire incident occurred at 17:05 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) in one of the rooms on the 3rd floor. Tower 14 has four floors and 56 rooms, and it houses 608 construction workers.
Troy stated that the fire was successfully extinguished in approximately two hours, at around 19:55 WITA. Cooling measures were then implemented to ensure that no remaining embers could spread the fire.
