Hanin Marwah, Jakarta – The Association of Ride-Hailing Drivers Garda Indonesia has called for the dismissal of Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, accusing him of incompetence and prioritizing the interests of application companies over those of drivers.

"Minister Dudy is seen as more focused on preserving the business ecosystem and protecting the dominance of ride-hailing platforms in controlling drivers," said Igun, the association's representative, in a written statement on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

"Garda Indonesia officially declares open resistance against the Minister of Transportation until President Prabowo Subianto decides to dismiss him."

The demand marks the latest escalation in a series of actions by the association, which has previously voiced concerns to both the Ministry of Transportation and President Prabowo.

Drivers argue that the current online transportation system is unfairly tilted in favor of app-based companies, leaving them at a disadvantage.

One of their core demands is the immediate passage of a law specifically regulating online transportation. Should the legislative process prove too lengthy, they are urging the President to issue a Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu).

The drivers are also demanding a reduction in application commissions from 20 percent to 10 percent. "The current commission rate is a heavy burden on drivers," Igun said, adding that app companies have not provided transparent explanations for the increase.

In addition, Garda Indonesia is pressing the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to establish clear regulations on food and goods delivery tariffs.

According to the group, the lack of regulation enables app companies to set artificially low rates under the guise of promotions, further cutting into drivers' earnings.

The association is also calling for a government audit of all ride-hailing platforms operating in Indonesia to ensure compliance with regulations and to prevent exploitative practices against driver partners.

With the latest demand for Minister Dudy's removal, the association argues that progress on their primary issues will remain obstructed as long as he remains in office. "As long as President Prabowo retains Dudy Purwagandhi as Minister, our demands will be ignored," Igun asserted.
