Amelia Rahima Sari, Jakarta – A citizen named Subhan has filed a civil lawsuit against Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and the General Election Commission (KPU) at the Central Jakarta District Court.

Sunoto, the spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, confirmed this. He stated that the case has been registered under number 583/Pdt.G/2025 PN Jakpus.

In the lawsuit's petitum, Subhan requests that the panel of judges declare Gibran the first defendant and the General Election Commission (KPU) as the second defendant to have committed unlawful acts. The plaintiff also requests that Gibran be declared invalid as the Vice President from 2024 to 2029.

"Sentencing the defendants jointly to pay material and immaterial losses to the plaintiff and all Indonesian citizens amounting to Rp125 trillion and to be deposited into the state treasury," said Sunoto, quoting the lawsuit, when confirmed on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Subhan requests that this decision be executed immediately (uitvoerbaar bij voorraad), even if there are appeal and cassation efforts from the defendants. "Sentencing the defendants jointly to pay a coercive fine (dwangsom) of Rp100 million per day for their delay in implementing the court's decision," said Sunoto.

According to the case search information system of the Central Jakarta District Court, the initial hearing of Subhan versus Gibran and the KPU will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025.
