Ricky Juliansyah, Depok – A derailment on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota Commuter Line forced many passengers to find alternative transportation, with many switching to private vehicles. The incident involved train No. 1189, which derailed at Jakarta Kota Station this morning.

One of the affected passengers was Suherman, a 45-year-old who works in North Jakarta. He decided to abandon his train trip and use his motorbike instead after hearing that the trains were only running as far as Manggarai.

"I happened to have brought my motorbike from home and left it in a storage facility, so I'm using it today," he said, explaining that although the trip would be long, he wasn't in a hurry.

Another passenger, Hidayat Al Ramdani, had planned to take the train to Sawah Besar to pick up goods. However, to avoid a potential delay, he also decided to retrieve his motorbike from the storage facility.

"Due to the potential delay from the incident, I decided to just take my motorbike from the storage facility. I'll just use my motorbike," he stated.

The impact of the derailment was also felt by a motorbike storage facility owner, Alfonso Nambah. He noted that as of this morning, at least ten customers had already retrieved their vehicles earlier than planned.

"They said there was a disturbance, so they brought their own motorbikes to the office," Alfonso explained. Even though the vehicles were picked up early, he still charged the standard fee of Rp5,000.

In response to the incident, KAI Commuter's VP Corporate Secretary, Joni Martinus, issued an apology for the service disruption. The derailment occurred at approximately 7:17 a.m. on Tuesday at the Jakarta Kota Station platform.Joni confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated by on-site staff. "The safety of the passengers is our top priority, and we are taking immediate action to avoid potential further dangers," he said in a statement.

Following the evacuation, officers began the process of removing the train and inspecting the infrastructure to restore normal operations. KAI Commuter is adjusting services, especially on the Bogor-Manggarai route, to ensure continued service for other lines. The company also initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

"For the latest information regarding the Commuter Line service, users can also access the official social media account @commuterline or contact the call center at 021-121," Joni concluded.
