Wahroni, Erfan Maruf, Jakarta – Immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are now equipped with body cameras in a bid to enhance accountability, transparency, and professionalism in Indonesia's busiest international gateway.

The move, launched by the Immigration Directorate General last week, is part of a broader modernization initiative and aims to ensure all officer interactions are documented and compliant with procedures.

"Every action and interaction will be recorded, offering objective evidence in case of incidents," said Immigration Directorate Secretary Sandi Andaryadi. "This is not just about oversight, it's about building a clean and professional immigration service."

A total of 24 officers stationed at immigration checkpoints and intelligence units will initially wear the bodycams. The footage is expected to both protect officers and reassure passengers by showing adherence to protocols.

The rollout coincides with a pilot test of All Indonesia, a new integrated mobile application designed to streamline entry for international travelers. Chief Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the app merges four previously separate systems from immigration, customs, quarantine, and health authorities.

"Passengers previously had to fill out multiple forms. Now they only need one app, which can be completed online up to three days before departure," AHY said at Soekarno-Hatta last week.

The app consolidates 33 data points, ranging from personal and travel details to health and customs declarations, and takes around 2.5 minutes to complete. Early trials are being conducted on Garuda Indonesia flights and at three international airports: Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda (Surabaya), and Ngurah Rai (Bali).

Full implementation of the app will follow after technical improvements and public outreach.

Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto added that data security is a top priority. While some storage may use international cloud systems, Indonesia plans to build domestic data centers for more robust control and security.

"We're not just relying on iCloud," he said. "We'll store data onshore with greater capacity and ensure communications infrastructure supports uninterrupted service."
