Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – The spokesperson of the Authority of the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) Troy Pantouw mentioned that the development of the new capital city is still ongoing. The construction of the legislative and judicial buildings will also be conducted soon.

At the moment, he said, the finalization process of the design is being carried out for the subsequent construction tender. "It is expected (to be tendered) around May or June 2025," Troy told Tempo, Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto requested a redesign of the legislative and judicial buildings in IKN. The IKN Authority and the Ministry of Public Works then formed a final design team. Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti became its head.

Regarding the new design, Diana stated that President Prabowo requested a change in the shape of the plenary session building's roof. The old building design was considered too fancy. In addition, the head of state wants a gallery or museum in the lobby.

"Something like a museum or gallery that can show related to democracy," Diana told reporters at the Ministry of Public Works on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Regarding the budget, Diana did not directly answer about the potential addition of construction costs with the new design. She only said that so far there has been no cost calculation because there was only a design concept after the competition process.

"The design concept for the tender, it cannot be done. So, a detailed basic design must be prepared to outline what it will be like. After it's approved, then it will be tendered with a design and build," said Diana. "So the redesign is part of the process to prepare that detailed basic design."

This year, the construction of IKN will enter phase II. Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that this megaproject will continue. Along with the target of making IKN the political capital, this year the government will build the legislative and judicial areas while also completing the remaining executive infrastructure construction. Basuki said, President Prabowo has decided on the IKN development budget worth Rp48.8 trillion for the period 2025-2029.
