Antara, Jakarta – Minister of Housing and Residential Area Maruarar Sirait said the government is preparing 1,000 units of subsidized housing for journalists and 20,000 for farmers from the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) program.

"We have allocated 1,000 housing units for journalists," Ara said after attending an open house event hosted by the Minister of Investment and Downstream and Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani in Jakarta on Tuesday night, April 1, 2025.

Additionally, Minister Ara said the government is also preparing 60,000 units of subsidized housing that will be allocated for fishers, laborers, and migrant workers. Furthermore, 30,000 housing units are prepared for health workers, including nurses, midwives, and public health workers.

There will also be around 5,000 subsidized houses for Indonesian Army soldiers and 14,500 for police personnel. "Out of 220,000 units. We are doing this for certainty. For whom? For the banks, distributors, for Tapera (Public Housing Savings), developers, and consumers," Ara said.

The government will soon invite representatives of each eligible profession to discuss the subsidized housing units. "We will invite the heads of nurses and midwives to talk. And journalists, of course, we will invite their representatives and organizations," Ara said.

The minister mentioned that the subsidized housing units will be constructed throughout Indonesia. He also mentioned that the project has obtained the blessings of President Prabowo Subianto, Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani to obtain a policy relaxation for minimum obligatory giro (GWM) to 4 percent for both subsidized and commercial houses.

The minister also emphasized the importance of the quality of subsidized housing in line with President Prabowo's directives, considering that quality can be a major issue. Therefore, the ministry has partnered with the Supreme Audit Agency to perform audits on the ground to ensure that the quality meets expectations.

In addition, he stressed that the inspection is not only about quality, but also about the target location, which must be precise and in accordance with the detailed data from Statistics Indonesia based on names and addresses.
