Egi Adyatama, Jakarta – The editorial office of Tempo has received a second disturbing delivery in the form of a box containing decapitated rat carcasses. This incident follows a previous package containing a severed pig's head. On Saturday, March 22, 2025, at approximately 08:00 AM, Agus, a cleaning officer at Tempo, discovered the unsettling package.

Agus initially mistook the box, wrapped in red rose-patterned gift wrapping paper, for a delivery of instant noodles. The box, however, was slightly dented, raising his suspicion. "Upon opening it, it contained severed rat heads," he recounted.

He immediately called his fellow cleaning officers and Tempo's security personnel. Upon further inspection, they found six rat carcasses with their heads severed stacked within the box. The box bore no identifying markings or written messages.

A preliminary investigation by the building management suggests that the package containing the rat carcasses was thrown over the perimeter fence of Tempo's complex on Jalan Palmerah Barat, South Jakarta, at approximately 02:11 AM by an unidentified individual. Security officers believe the box struck a parked vehicle before landing on the ground, evidenced by scratch marks on the car.

This incident occurs just days after Tempo's office received a package containing a pig's head, devoid of ears, on March 19, 2025. That package was delivered by a courier wearing a delivery service uniform and was addressed to Francisca Christy Rosana, a political desk journalist and the host of Tempo's popular podcast Bocor Alus Politik.

Setri Yasra, the Chief Editor of Tempo, regarded the delivery of the rat carcasses as a further escalation of terror directed at the editorial office. He emphasized that this act follows threatening messages received via social media on March 21, 2025, from the Instagram account @derrynoah. The account holder had explicitly stated their intent to continue sending terror until "your office is doomed."

According to Setri, the delivery of these pig heads and rats is a direct attack on the work of the media and press freedom. "The sender is deliberately attempting to terrorize journalists. If the purpose is initimidation, we are not afraid. Stop these cowardly actions."

On March 21, 2025, Setri Yasra filed a formal report with the National Police Headquarters regarding the pig's head package, which has been submitted as evidence. In response, the National Police Headquarters has formed a special team to investigate the perpetrator and their motives. Approximately 20 police officers visited the Tempo office to retrieve the box containing the six decapitated rat carcasses, which were delivered in the early hours of Saturday.
