Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named two suspects in the case of alleged corruption of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds at Bank Indonesia (BI). However, the KPK did not reveal the names or agencies of the two suspects.
Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Rudi Setiawan said the suspects were suspected of receiving money from Bank Indonesia's CSR program. "There are suspects in this case, we have named two suspects for the past few months who are suspected of receiving funds from BI's CSR," said Rudi at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Setiabudi, South Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Rudi conveyed the information one day after the search of the BI Building on Jalan MH Thamrin, Gambir, Central Jakarta the day before. During the activity, KPK investigators also searched the office of BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
"Yesterday we went to Bank Indonesia, there were several rooms that we searched, including the office of the BI Governor," said Rudi.
The KPK stated that the search at the Bank Indonesia Office Complex was related to the alleged corruption case of CSR funds. In addition to Perry's room, the KPK also searched several other rooms at the central bank.
Rudi said that investigators took a number of pieces of evidence such as documents from the BI office. Some of them came from Perry Warjiyo's room. "There are several documents and items that we took," said Rudi.
Furthermore, the KPK will investigate information regarding the evidence through an examination. "Later we will classify and verify it with the person concerned," said Rudi.
Bank Indonesia has responded to the search. "Bank Indonesia respects and fully submits to the legal process carried out by the KPK according to applicable procedures and provisions, supports investigative efforts, and is cooperative with the KPK," said Head of the BI Communications Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso in a written statement on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The KPK has previously investigated the alleged corruption case of CSR funds within Bank Indonesia. The KPK stated that the use of CSR funds from Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) was suspected of being problematic because it was not in accordance with its use.
