Annisa Febiola, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani announced the decision to expand the number of commissions within the DPR from 11 to 13. This agreement was reached during a leadership meeting and consultation with all factions on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Puan stated that commissions XII and XIII will be adjusted to align with the upcoming ministries. "Today, we have finalized the agreement with the eight factions in the DPR to add two commissions," Puan declared at the Senayan parliamentary complex in Central Jakarta following the meeting.

According to her, the decision to increase the number of commissions aims to harmonize the DPR's structure with the plans of the new government. Reports suggested that President-elect Prabowo Subianto is set to form a large cabinet with approximately 44-46 ministries.

"As the government plans, there is indeed harmony and synergy between the legislative and executive branches," Puan emphasized.

She mentioned that leaders of each commission and body within the DPR will be announced following the announcement of Prabowo's cabinet structure.

The DPR is scheduled to hold a plenary meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to ratify the addition of commissions to 13. "Tomorrow's plenary meeting will address this matter. Each faction leader will announce the leadership of their respective commissions. This is the prerogative of each faction," Puan concluded.
