Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – A recent survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia shows a sharp rise in Dedi Mulyadi's electability for the West Java gubernatorial race, with his support jumping from 22.3 percent to 40.7 percent since July. This boost follows former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil's decision to run for Jakarta governor instead.

"Dedi Mulyadi's support has surged from 22.3 percent in July to 40.7 percent in the latest top-of-mind survey," said Burhanudin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, on Thursday.

Despite this, Burhanudin noted that Ridwan Kamil's supporters in West Java still exist, albeit at a residual level of about 2.4 percent.

Dedi Mulyadi significantly outpaces other candidates, including Ahmad Syaikhu of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), who has just 2.2 percent, and Ilham Akbar Habibie, who is under 1 percent. Jeje Wiradinata, another gubernatorial candidate, has garnered only 0.8 percent, while Ronal Surapradja, the candidate for deputy governor, holds a mere 0.1 percent.

The survey, conducted from Sept. 2-8, 2024, involved 1,200 eligible voters in West Java, with a proportional sample drawn from across the province using multistage random sampling. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
