Antara, Penajam Paser Utara – Swissotel Nusantara in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, is nearly ready to welcome distinguished guests for Indonesia's 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 17, with preparations 98 percent complete.
"Since our main focus was on the restaurant and rooms, those are 98 percent ready," General Manager Aldo P. Situmorang stated on Friday.
The nine-story hotel, located on Jalan Sumbu Timur IKN, offers 191 rooms and is strategically positioned near the Garuda Palace and the Zero Kilometer Point of IKN, a key transit hub for the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART).
Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony in September 2023, and the hotel features a range of rooms, including Premier King, Twin, Grand Room, Suite King, and Presidential Suite, with sizes from 32 to 51 square meters.
Situmorang revealed that all rooms and facilities have been booked by the State Secretariat for VIP and VVIP guests from August 16 to 18.
He also noted that the hotel's furnishings and equipment, sourced from Jakarta, were locally produced.
The restaurant area boasts an open kitchen and private dining options that highlight Kalimantan's local culture.
Regarding essential services, Situmorang confirmed smooth operation of electricity and water. "For electricity, we've ensured stability with a 500KV backup provided by PLN," he said.
The hotel has also secured reliable internet connectivity through partnerships with Telkom and PLN.
A special feature, the Swiss Circle, inspired by Nusantara symbols, will be displayed in the lobby. "There's a unique element that will surprise visitors. While I can't disclose details now, it's part of the Swissotel's iconic features," Situmorang added.
