Jakarta – The Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court has scheduled the first trial of the bribery case at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Detention Center or prison.
The trial is scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 2024, for an indictment reading by the prosecutor. According to the Central Jakarta District Court's Case Tracking Information System (SIPP), the cases of extortion at the KPK Detention Center are registered in two cases, namely 68/Pid.Sus-TPK/2024/PN Jkt.Pst and 69/Pid.Sus-TPK/2024/PN Jkt.Pst.
In case 68, the defendants are Muhammad Ridwan, Mahdi Aris, Suharlan, Ricky Rachmawanto, Wardoyo, Muhammad Abduh, and Ramadhan Ubaidillah. In case 69, the defendants are Deden Rochendi, Hengki, Ristanta, Eri Angga Permana, Sopian Hadi, Achmad Fauzi, Agung Nugroho, and Ari Rahman Hakim.
The first hearing session was held at Wirjono Projodikoro Room 2 starting at 10:00 am.
KPK Prosecutor Agung Nugroho Santoso said the defendants would be presented in court directly before the panel of judges. "The trial of the defendant Achmad Fauzi (Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission Branch) together with 14 other defendants will be held on August 1, 2024 at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court," Agung said in his official statement.
In the extortion case, the KPK named 15 suspects, ranging from the head of the KPK detention center to seconded civil servants (PNYD). Investigation results indicate that the scandal of illegal levies at the KPK detention center has been ongoing since 2019, with up to Rp6.3 billion in bribes and kickbacks paid.
The suspects are suspected of violating Article 12 Letter e of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
