Alfida Rizky Febrianna, Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced that the Coal Management Information System (Simbara), an online tracking system for mining activities, has added Rp 7.1 trillion to state revenues since its launch in 2022.

"Simbara has achieved significant outcomes, including preventing illegal mining, increasing non-tax state revenue (PNBP), and compelling companies to settle their outstanding debts," Sri Mulyani said on Monday.

The Simbara app tracks all stages of coal and mineral management, from upstream to downstream, including mine planning, refining, sales of mineral and coal commodities, compliance with state revenue obligations, and port clearance. As of Monday, the app includes monitoring for nickel and tin.

Sri Mulyani detailed that Simbara has effectively prevented revenue losses from illegal mining and state revenue payment evasion, totaling Rp 3.47 trillion. Additionally, the system has prevented revenue losses of Rp 2.53 trillion through data analysis and risk profiling of businesses.

Furthermore, Simbara has resolved outstanding debts by implementing an automatic blocking system to improve business compliance, contributing Rp 1.1 trillion to state revenue.

"This is just from coal. With the inclusion of nickel and tin – two of the world's largest minerals – we anticipate a potential increase in state revenue of Rp 10 trillion," Sri Mulyani concluded.

Last year, state revenue from the mineral and coal sector totaled Rp 124.4 trillion, approximately $8.6 billion.
