Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurated the 2024 Indonesian Military-Police (TNI-Polri) officers in the Prasetya Perwira Ceremony at the Jakarta Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, July 16.
The new officers include 417 Army Academy graduates, 129 Navy Academy graduates, 113 Air Force Academy graduates, and 247 Police Academy graduates.
He personally awarded rank insignia to four outstanding graduates: Second Lieutenant Infantry I Made Aditya Wahyu Palguna, Second Lieutenant Seaman Mochamad Irvan Sugianto, Second Lieutenant Pilot Jofanka Hendhico Arintio, and Second Police Inspector Theodore Gomgom Octofarrel De Fatima.
In his speech, the head of state congratulated the newly appointed officers and emphasized developments in science and technology that result in increasingly complex challenges.
He highlighted that war is not only in physical form but also in non-kinetic threats, such as cyberattacks which could paralyze defense security functions and public services.
"Prepare yourselves to serve the nation and state with loyalty, sacrifice, and heartfelt leadership," Jokowi said.
Figures and leaders attending the ceremony included the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, DPD Speaker La Nyalla Mattalitti, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
