Yustinus Patris Paat, Jakarta – President-elect Prabowo Subianto has offered ministerial positions to the Democratic Party – a member of the coalition supporting him in the election – according to a spokesman for the party on Friday.
The offer from Prabowo was directly communicated to the party's chairman, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, said Herzaky Mahendra Putra.
"Mr. Prabowo has requested Brother AHY to provide a list of our top cadres," Herzaky informed reporters, referring to Agus by his initials.
"However, details regarding names and positions will be disclosed at the appropriate time. The announcement remains the prerogative of Mr. Prabowo and Brother AHY," he added.
Agus was recently appointed as the agrarian and spatial planning minister by President Joko Widodo after the Democratic Party pledged allegiance to the Prabowo coalition, which also nominated the president's son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as vice president.
Herzaky emphasized that Prabowo is "highly democratic" and welcomes input from other parties, especially coalition members who contributed significantly to his victory.
"In our view, it is reasonable and justified for us within the KIM [Advanced Indonesia Coalition] to express our preferences regarding ministerial appointments. Open and honest communication among coalition members is essential – no falsehoods or ambiguities among us," he said.
