Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – The General Elections Commission (KPU) is set to hold the declaration ceremony of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected president and vice president today, April 24.

However, the legal team chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Gayus Lumbuun, called for a delay and to wait for the verdict on the party's lawsuit against the KPU at the State Administrative Court or PTUN.

Gayus explained that the ongoing lawsuit by PDIP is related to the KPU's violation for accepting the registration of Prabowo-Gibran as the presidential-vice presidential candidate.

"I urge the KPU to adhere to legal principles and not cause a delay in justice, and postpone the declaration until there is a definite decision from the PTUN," Gayus said at the PDIP Office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, April 23.

According to him, the postponement of the declaration ceremony is aimed at preventing a delayed justice, as the KPU's decision could potentially conflict with the court's decision if the PDIP's lawsuit is later granted.

On Tuesday, April 2, the PDIP which endorsed Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md officially filed a lawsuit with the PTUN against the KPU for alleged unlawful acts in the 2024 presidential election.

Following the Constitutional Court's ruling on April 22, which fully rejected the legal challenges by losing candidates, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, the KPU chairman Hasyim Asyari announced that the winning pair, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, will be officially declared as the elected president and vice president at the KPU office on Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. Jakarta time.
