Antara, Jakarta – State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas has announced the first batch of 38 ministries and institutions set to be relocated to Indonesia's future capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, starting in July.

Among these ministries and institutions are the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Attorney General's Office (AGO).

According to Abdullah, these ministries and institutions have been prioritized based on their crucial roles in supporting the President's performance. The initial relocation will involve 178 top-level officials.

"We have received instructions from the State Palace for a gradual relocation, but civil servants will move after August, following the Independence Day ceremony," said Azwar Anas during a press briefing at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Besides considering their significance, he emphasized that the relocation process would also hinge on the preparedness of accommodations for civil servants. He assured that numerous residential buildings have already been swiftly constructed.

Azwar Anas highlighted that several ministers, including Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, are slated to relocate to Nusantara as early as July 2024. He also affirmed that the relocation plans have been coordinated with the respective secretaries-general.

"We are among the first in this," he said while outlining the ministries that will be the first to move.
