Wahroni, Tangerang – Flooding struck the Sedyatmo Toll Road leading to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten on Friday, causing significant traffic congestion in the vicinity.

Commissioner Bernard Bachtera Saragih, the Traffic Chief of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, reported that the floodwaters on the toll road reached depths of 30-40 centimeters.

"Despite the flood, traffic from Jakarta heading towards Soekarno-Hatta Airport is still flowing through two lanes," Bernard confirmed at the site.

To alleviate the congestion, dozens of traffic police officers were dispatched to the flooded area.

"We are committed to providing the best possible service to the public. My officers are actively managing traffic to assist commuters," he assured.

Bernard further disclosed that four water pumps were deployed to expedite the drainage process.

"Additionally, we are utilizing four suction pump machines to address and mitigate the flooding. The water will be pumped into the lake, and we anticipate that within approximately 30 minutes, the area will be fully drained," he elaborated.

Despite the toll road being inundated, Bernard reassured that airport users at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were relatively unaffected.

Moreover, aside from the toll road, flooding also impacted the Benda District area in Tangerang City, which serves as an access road to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Consequently, several vehicles experienced breakdowns due to the flood.
