Thomas Rizal, Jakarta – Media mogul Hary Tanoesoedibjo, his wife and their five children will not secure the House of Representatives seats due to poor performance by his United Indonesia Party (Perindo) and stiff competition from stronger individual rivals in their respective electoral districts in the Feb. 14 general elections.

Perindo secured less than 1 million votes, constituting just 1.32 percent of the popular vote, according to the official tally by the General Election Commission, which has reached nearly 60 percent of incoming data.

The threshold for a party to have a House seat is 4 percent of popular votes, and analyses by independent survey agencies, sampling from 2,000 polling stations each, confirm that Perindo will not gain entry to the House.

Hary Tanoe, popularly known as Hary Tanoe, contested the House seat in Banten province, amassing nearly 30,000 votes.

The owner of at least four major TV networks and various publications under the MNC Group was surpassed by former South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany (83,500 votes), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Idrus Salim Ajufri (53,824), former Banten Governor Rano Karno (45,180), and Democratic Party politician Zulfikar Hamonangan (41,873).

Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, Hary's wife, vying for the House seat in Jakarta, garnered only 15,503 votes, while PKS executive Hidayat Nur Wahid secured more than five times that amount. Liliana was also outperformed by actor Uya Kuya from the National Mandate Party, who received over 43,000 votes.

The couple's eldest daughter, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, who currently serves as the vice tourism minister, received 16,047 votes in East Java's electoral district, while second daughter Valencia Tanoesoedibjo obtained 6,808 votes in Jakarta.

Their third daughter, Jessica Tanoesoedibjo, received approximately 2,500 votes in East Nusa Tenggara. Another daughter, Clarissa Tanoesoedibjo, who competed in the most populous province of West Java, received just 2,738 votes.

Hary's youngest son, Warren Tanoesoedibjo, also faced challenges in Central Java, securing only 1,431 votes.
