Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – Vice presidential candidate number three, Mahfud Md, refused to comment on the discourse on the DPR's right to inquiry to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 elections. The proposal for the right to inquiry was previously conveyed by Mahfud's running mate, Ganjar Pranowo.

Mahfud said he was reluctant to comment because this was a matter concerning political parties, which he's not involved in. "I will not comment on the right to inquiry and the right to interpellation. It's a matter of willingness of the parties," said Mahfud on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

According to Mahfud, political dynamics in the DPR or House of Representatives do not require running candidates to interfere.

The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs also said that political parties do not need his support to roll out the right to inquiry. "You don't need my support. Supporting it is also useless if the DPR doesn't want it," said Mahfud.

The proposal to roll out the right to inquiry in the DPR was previously submitted by presidential candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo. Ganjar said that allegations of fraud in the 2024 presidential election must be addressed.

"If the DPR is not ready with the right of inquiry, I encourage using the right of interpellation or working meeting," Ganjar told Tempo last Friday.

Ganjar submitted a proposal for the right of inquiry during the Ganjar-Mahfud winning team meeting on February 15. At that time, Ganjar also showed thousands of messages he received concerning alleged election fraud.

Meanwhile, PDIP politician Adian Napitupulu said that the right to inquiry in DPR was an effort to uncover various fraud allegations in the 2024 general elections. Adian claimed that the public no longer trusted state administrators like the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Constitutional Court.
