Defara Dhanya Paramitha, Jakarta – IKN Authority head Bambang Susantono said the Nusantara capital city (IKN) will be built differently than other Indonesian metropolitans.

According to Bambang, IKN will be free of traffic jams which is so often a plight in other big cities in Indonesia, especially Jakarta.

"This morning, the traffic was congested because of the rain, and that will not happen in IKN. So imagine if we don't have to experience these things we go through in Jakarta," he said during a press conference today.

Bambang explained that IKN will become a green, smart, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable city. In addition, the establishment will promote a more environmentally friendly way of life for its residents.

"It's fun, living [in IKN], the water is drinkable, the pollution level is low and even nonexistent, the city is walkable, the internet is speedy, and there are hangout spaces. That's what we want to create," he said.

For information, Bambang reported that the first phase of development in IKN had reached 71.47 percent by the end of January. The progress includes the Central Government Corea Area 1A.

"This is the data we obtained from the PUPR Ministry (Ministry of Public Works and Housing), the first batch is the contracts that started even before 2023," Bambang concluded.
